The writing

Fat Roland writes and performs short prose that is a little dark and a little comic. He edits heavily to produce a truncated, poetic style that sometimes descends into meta-fiction: for example, the piece of paper from which he is reading may become part of the story.

Biography

Fat Roland is a pauper and writer living in the miserable leafy suburbs of England’s second city (real second city, that is). Bionic Matthew is his secret alter-ego who fights chrome on the streets of Gotham City (he got his words mixed up).

He is better known for Fat Roland On Electronica, the award winning comedy music blog, but he has also written under a pseudonym in newspapers (lots of times) and magazines (sometimes). He is a failed stand-up comedian.

Fat Roland’s worst enemies are skinny lattes and toasted leaflets.
